GENERAL HELP

This section contains general help on using our site and navigating through it, in addition to information about viewing our content and video. If you are a paying member and are experiencing difficulties, please see the member help page for advice.

MOVING AROUND THE SITE

Navigation around the site is conducted mostly through the menus at the top of each page, and sub-menus along the left hand margin. Let's take a look at an example:

The main menu bar which you should use to access all the key sections is along the top, shown as "1" in the above example. These options will change from time to time, and you should feel free to explore the site - part of the fun of course!

Here a few key options to be aware of:

- This option will always return you to the main home page.
- A useful option for regular readers, the What's New section lists latest site updates.
- This will take you to our main Review section, the core of the site.
- This section is packed full of our massive firework features.
- The envelope icon takes you to our Contact Us section if you want to e-mail us.
- To access the members content, you will need to join. This section tells you how.

In some sections (such as this one), clicking on a main option will create a new sub-menu underneath it. This is shown as "2" in the above example. The gold text on the left of this bar will remind you what section you are in, and you can then explore further pages in that section by clicking on the required link.

Where a page is split into several areas, these can be jumped to by using the links on the left, under the "Quick Links On This Page" picture, shown as "3" in the above example.

Where content is also split into additional pages, you can jump between pages by using the "Other Pages In This Section" links, shown as "4" in the above example.

One of the most fundamental and important navigation aids is the option. Clicking on this will take you back to the top of any page, so you can then choose another option if you wish.

BROWSER REQUIREMENTS

It is our policy to keep the main sections as simple as we can to enable as wide a readership as possible. However, we recommend the use of an up-to-date browser, for example the latest versions of Internet Explorer, Netscape Navigator or FireFox. Using other browsers may cause page formatting problems.

Most of our pages are now optimised for viewing on an 800x600 screen or above. Some of our earlier features will spread or constrict to any screen width but 800x600 is now considered the minimum required.

It is strongly recommended that you set your screen to 16 bit colour or higher, as we do use a large number of images on the site. You must enable image viewing in your browser to see the menu options in each section.

The main site does not use cookies, but many of the third party scripts we use, do. For example, the forum and the Gallery. We leave it up to individual readers to decide if they wish to enable cookies, their intention is to improve your browsing experience. More information about this can be found in our Privacy Policy.

Be sure to only access the site through our main URL's: www.firework-review.org.uk or our "shortcut" address: UKFR.com.

RESTRICTED CONTENT / ACCESS DENIED

If you're a non-member you will almost certainly have come across this at some point (or its equivalent in your browser):

This means that the link you are trying to access is for paying members only. It might be a link to a video, a larger picture, a review page and so on. To access this content you will need to join our site. It doesn't cost very much to become a member and payment is taken by a secure third party card processor. Please consider joining if you want to access the member material.

If you cannot enter a valid username and password, you will get an "access denied" message. Please be aware that we do monitor failed log-ins, and repeated failed attempts may result in a ban on your IP address and/or your ISP from accessing our site.

We fully appreciate that not everyone wants to join our site particularly those readers from outside the UK, and this is why we go out of our way to provide a significant amount of free to access material. If you wish to access any content in particular, but don't want to join, you only have to ask - we can often help. It is always disappointing to find people trying to hack into our site instead. Doing so only risks you having your activities being reported to your ISP, or a formal report made to the police. And all for the sake of either asking us for help, or paying £1.99 a month?

If you are an existing member, or have just joined, and are having problems getting access, please see our member help page for advice.

ON-LINE VIDEO

We have a large amount of on-line video for both members and non-members. For help accessing and playing these clips, please see our video help page.
